Travel agents, ambassadors, attorneys…
The 9th House is a BIG HOUSE!
Devotion, courts of law, what you believe…
Why do I say this? It’s the house associated with Jupiter and Jupiter is BIG.
Foreign countries, counselors, your consciousness expanding…
It expands what it touches (the old saying goes.)
College, clergy, commerce…
I’ve got Saturn in the 9th house which I never took to be a “good” placement although someone (can’t remember who) told me once that Liz Greene thought it was good and who am I to argue 😉
Faith, foreign affairs, horses…
It’s an interesting combination because one would possibly think that Jupiter and Saturn do not get along: principle of expansion vs principle of contraction i.e. takes hard work (Saturn) to keep positive (Jupiter).
Your ideals, immigration, intuition, long journeys…
Saturn in the 9th can limit your perspective. Saturn can be harsh, Saturn can be fear, Saturn is limits and boundaries. Saturn is work. Work to un-limit the supposed limits.
Your higher mind, philanthropy, philosophy, parades…
For example, I am NOT a traveler. I am a Cancerian homebody. The 9th is a travel house and for me going to New Jersey feels like a… well… if I’m going to travel I want complete control over the journey.
Prayer, prophecy, publishing…
AND YET I like train rides, plane rides... it’s once I get THERE that I want to go home. I have Neptune in my 3rd in opposition to Saturn.
Rituals, rabbis, rectors…
But the 9th is also the house of the teacher, the house of prophecy and hell I’m working on it. My parents were teachers and my first astrologer told me that I’d be a teacher in one way or another my whole life.
Teachers, thighs, abstract thought…
I sometimes wonder if I’m teaching here in my own roundabout way… Neptune opposing my 9th House Saturn makes it hard for me to clearly see and I feel like this blog post is an example of the limits of a 9th House Saturn: blocking vs freedom.
It’s an interesting house though — the combination of keywords fascinates me… from the law to the world to the mind to the Lord! And horses too!
🙂

My Saturn in Sag probably has something in common with your 9th house Saturn. I’m sooo not into long-distance travel – at least not in the physical sense. On the positive side, I think Saturn helps to discipline Jupiter’s influence by providing structure and a sense of responsibility – not a bad thing IMO. 🙂 I bet your Jupiter wants to accomplish something meaningful in the world. And you *are* a teacher.
I have retrograde Mars in Gemini in my 9th, which is also exactly conjunct my Part of Fortune. As for the 9th’s association with thighs, when I was a kid I was a sprinter and wrestler (for fun only). With lots of fast-twitch fibers I was really strong and really fast (square Pluto). My grandmother used to say I’d make a fine preacher – I’m never at a loss for words, even if I do occasionally choose to keep them to myself, thanks to Mars being retrograde.
I also use my hands to heal and often pick up impressions that way (9th house Gemini Mars quincunx Scorpio Neptune/Mercury/Jupiter on the cusp of the 3rd.) I was a really fast typist too.
I think Saturn in 9th might work well – you can expand yourself and your mind by strict, focused study in so many ways (I’m thinking of things like meditation, which many people think of as mind-expanding, but the focus can be seen too). I also find it interesting that the 3rd house is the opposite house – you can either be the jack of all trades, master of none (3rd), or you can become specialized, an expert somewhere (think of the philosopher)…and this can be freeing (9th). That specialization and narrow focus can be seen through Saturn/Capricorn.
What? You’re one of my astrology teachers! I know you’re not asking for confirmation or clarification on the teaching point, but I must tell you. 🙂
I have nothing in my 9th house (Aries) but I think about it. I do have my sun conjunct Jupiter though I haven’t grasped that yet..
🙂
Moon in the 9th. One aspect: opposite Jupiter in Pisces. BIG compassion, big enough to drown in. It’s interesting how the 9th & Virgo seem to blend for me and I want to fix anything I can for as many people possible. And animals. I like to travel but I love coming home. I’m also too curious for my own good but maybe that’s more Jupiter trine mercury. My brother in law’s a lawyer, is that a 3rd from the 7th thing? But my aunt’s a nun & maybe that’s a moon in the 9th thing…this is where I get lost 😉
I would Definitely say you are teaching here, and you are a very good teacher at that 🙂 I connect with your style of teaching.
As for my 9th, depending on the house system it is either empty or contains Pluto. I experience Pluto in both the 8th and 9th. Scorpio is on the cusp and Pluto is square Jupiter as well as opposite mars. I love philosophy and expansion and my beliefs tend to transform frequently.
LOL! Thighs?? I’ve got Jupiter in the 9th (double the fun) and although not humongous, thighs is the one area I have to keep in check.
And, I can only do long-distance travel. An idea of a getaway 2hrs from home for the weekend is weird to me. I go far or I stay home. (Just realized this, a little aha moment here.)
Your Saturn probably just brings you down to Earth, evens out the expansive nature of that house. Is your 9th in Gem?
And yes, you’re definitely teaching.
