The World’s Gone Retro(grade)! Mercury, Mars, And Saturn

"mercury retrograde"

Let’s see…

Saturn retrograde.

Mars retrograde.

Mercury retrograde!

Here’s my latest Mars retrograde story.

Y’all know I joined a gym when Mars was direct and entered my 1st House.

I slowed down a little shortly after the retrograde began but now I’m back in the swing of things and recently bought new sneakers! Asics :) Awesome awesome shoe (and no I don’t work for them.)

I realized that my bounce wasn’t so bouncy anymore and suddenly realized the shoe was the problem. And why they make good shoes so ugly for women is beyond me but that’s another story. WHY must my amazing shoes have this gross pink slime trimming on them? It was grody pink or garish blue.

Anyway, the shoes are great and I had a great treadmill time yesterday and I realized today, while on the train that Mercury retrograde is not only…

it’s also….. (drumroll please!)

I replaced what was no longer working. I replaced my SHOES. And all y’all who are getting another Saturn Return hit (hello Saturn in Libra peeps!) understand what I’m talking about when I talk about Saturn removing what no longer WORKS.

So. Tell us. What are you replacing for Mars retrograde? What are you replacing for Saturn retrograde? For Mercury retrograde?

Mercury Rx: the old ways of communicating no longer work.

Mars Rx: how are you abusing your energy instead of care-taking it.

Saturn Rx: how do you want to do relationship now that you realize all the previous ones have sucked the big one.

Not that you didn’t love. You did. But it wasn’t enough. Saturn in Libra is about RELATIONship. Relating. To others. Saturn creates limits. Boundaries. Pull your shit IN.

So that’s your homework, my friends. Consider the retrogrades in your life and come back and tell us a thing or two. In any order. And feel free to digress :)

Not that I’m not practical but my default setting is truly my North Node in Pisces in the 6th House of the every day.

Mars In Virgo Full Of Grace

"mars in virgo retrograde"

Full of grace on the treadmill. Full of grace.

When Mars went into Virgo, and my 1st House, I joined a gym. At first I walked (on the treadmill). And then I discovered walking at an incline. And then I jogged. And then I jogged at an incline. And then I ran. And now I combine all three – intervals. When I run? I am free.

And I thought of Mars in Virgo, retrograde, today because there’s this moment, there’s this moment when you RUN, when you are running for your life, and that IS how it feels, when *I* am running for my life, there’s this moment when… you realize that the place, the pace, the level, the speed you had originally thought was as good as you could do… you begin to realize that you can do more, so you start to push yourself, and you do more. That’s Mars.

It’s not about the exertion, the point I want to make, although there is that. And it’s not about the endorphins, although there is that.

There is something that happens when you are running and you are pushing yourself, and your body is simultaneously in control and completely relaxed. What I mean is: you are pushing pushing pushing, your arms and legs and heart and head and lungs are working together… but you can let yourself go slack. Let your limbs go slack, loosen them, relax WHILE you are running for your life.

Any athletes here know what I’m talking about. I guess it’s being “in the zone” and I guess it’s “meditation in motion” for me — but today, I think, was the first time I felt it, or maybe I felt it on Monday too. It feels like flying and it’s not that I keep this up the whole time. I don’t. Still doing the intervals but this feeling, this ability is so extraordinary, it’s my joy, and I feel full of grace at these times.  I wish the same for you, however you can find it. I want you to find it.

It’s probably nothing that anyone can see. It’s a feeling. My natal Mars is in Cancer, the sign that can’t stop feeling.

And it made me think of Mars in Virgo retrograde because Mars in Virgo retrograde can’t do the details or the control like Mars direct. It must, for lack of a better phrase, go slack. But it’s still Mars.

I’m telling people these days not to expect results. Or… to expect different results. Review, investigate instead of coming to conclusions because of the retrograde (Saturn too).

But you can pick one part of your life (Virgo rules details) like the treadmill, like sex, or some other Mars activity. Find where Mars is transiting in your chart and pick one thing from those areas of life that that house represents and find your power again, find your Mars.

The Moon and Mercury in Pisces are opposing Mars in Virgo right now so talk — Mercury — to your Mars.

Is Mars in your 1st House now? Talk to your body. Is Mars in your 10th House now? Talk to your family — the 4th House opposes the 10th. You must travel the axis of where transiting Mars is.  Is Mars transiting your 7th? It’s not just them; it’s you too.

Moon opposing Mars, Mercury opposing Mars: tense aspects, sure. But there’s more. There’s always more.

Do you have a Mars story to share?

Mars Retrograde In Virgo At The Gym

"mars retrograde in virgo"

Metaphor for today: Mars Retrograde is like a confused boxer.

When Mars entered my 1st House, I joined a gym and have been strict and disciplined with my gym-going to the point of excess. I do have a natal Mars Jupiter square, by the way. Mars and Jupiter in tense formation (and a square is tense!) can signify “too much.”

A couple weeks ago I realized that I’d been overdoing it and also realized that Mars Retrograde would have me tweaking my gym routine, and the 6th House rules daily routine and Virgo rules the 6th House so it’s all making sense to me.

Perhaps fewer visits but harder workouts, for example — after three months of steady gym-going, well, I can see and feel my progress. I am an active person anyway, but have fallen in love with the treadmill once again — and have also learned how to do the exercise that makes me happy while keeping my knees happy.

So today, our first full Mars Retrograde day, and I am at the gym even though I feel a little under the weather and before I go, I tell myself “do less.” And I did do less but I did it hard and with as much Mars as I could muster, for better or worse.

And for some reason, and I never do this, I skipped my cool down. I mean, I was jogging/running, with short intervals, at an incline and I probably cooled-down less than 2 minutes. Damn. That was stupid. Was heading down the stairs and a friend called who I’m supposed to meet today and I was dizzy and nauseated and what the fuck?

I knew it was work-out related but had forgotten this particular feeling. I drank all my water and headed home and realized that that was what it was.

So today’s Mars Retrograde in Virgo lesson: listen to your body. Your body is trying to tell you stuff. Pay attention. Don’t tell your body to fuck off.

And whatever your daily routines are, Mars Retrograde will probably see you… tweaking them, adjusting them, fixing them although you may need to re-fix the fix when Mars goes Direct again!

Don’t be afraid of this time period though. Like I wrote yesterday, go inside. Build (Mars) rest (retrograde) into your day.

One other gym-going tip though: if you find that Mars Retrograde is making you sluggish and you have no need or reason to slow-down, add some Marsyier music. That’s what I did and it helped.

Do you feel the slow-down?

The Stars Today: Marry It, Marry It, Marry It

"full moon lunar eclipse in gemini 2011"
as above, so below

Be free: Sun in Sagittarius. Love the work: Venus in Capricorn trine Mars in Virgo. Think twice: Moon in Gemini heading to Full and the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. Hold steady: Uranus stations direct.

And the Moon opposing Mercury Retrograde as I type this: what you feel, what you think: balance it. Swap it. Marry it. Marry it? Yes. Venus in Capricorn: it’s hard but it’s worth it.

There’s a line from a Donald Justice poem that goes, “I will die in Miami in the sun” which was actually a take on a line from Vallejo that goes “I will die in Paris on a rainy day.” And me? “I will die on this treadmill in the Big City.”

Pre-Eclipse feelings at the gym this morning as the Gemini Moon prepares to square my Virgo Moon. You mutables are really feeling this one.

Mars in Virgo, working on my fitness (sings Fergie) but… I feel like my heart will burst these days like a bomb.

But it’s not a heart of terror–

Can’t hear exactly what it’s saying, what the heart is saying, because Donna Summer is now singing I Love You in my headphones while I’m on the treadmill and the incline soothes my three-of-swords heart.

There is bliss in the blood, the pumping of it. It’s like a city too – pathways, routes, all leading to that One Place: heart. Heart-town!

Sagittarius runs. Capricorn waits. Sagittarius flees. Capricorn commits. Sagittarius is fast. Capricorn is slow.

So… you must wed both of these energies that are active in the sky now as we prepare as we prepare as we prepare for the shaking up and the over-turning: Uranus direct, the Moon in its Fullness, Mercury stationing direct a few days later, Jupiter direct later this month… And the Eclipse which will eclipse…

You WILL feel emotional these pre-Eclipse hours. You MAY have felt like a maniac this week already.

And I am telling you to marry this energy because this energy wants your commitment, wants you to see it through, wants you to lie beneath it like a strong board that can’t be broken, not even by the greatest Kung Fu master or Magician.

Strong strong strong.
