Celebrate The Wound: Chiron In The Birth Chart

"venus conjunct chiron"

Worst case scenario:

This is what Chiron is, in the birthchart. This is what Chiron shows. The worst case scenario. This is what I found myself saying to a client the other day: that where Chiron is – in the birth chart – is that person’s WCS.

She’s got a Venus Chiron conjunction. That’s how this blog post was born.

And forever and ever we get triggered, when something (a transit, a person’s chart) touches our Chiron (and any planets near our Chiron).

I said to her: as soon as you start to love (Venus), your Chiron (your worst case scenario, your wound) wakes up.

I hate it when people say: oh the worst case scenarios don’t happen because of course they do. Her partner’s wife died in an accident. And there was a man I went out with. Same story. Here then gone. My mother went into the hospital and didn’t come out a day later. And often the WCS isn’t death at all. It’s surviving something no one should have to bear.

This is your Chiron. Somewhere in your chart, the unthinkable happened. That house, those aspects. And you get triggered, sometimes more, sometimes less.

I said to her:

You can’t not feel both. Venus AND Chiron. This won’t keep you from happiness or keep you from love, but you must surrender to being the healer and to being healed. Surrender to help and helping. To hurt and hurting.

To find Chiron in your own chart, you have to know how to read your chart. It’s actually pretty simple once you know the ground rules. There are free charts available on line of course and Google is your friend. Dig around. This is also something that we can talk about in a Reading so let me know.

Sometimes I see a Chiron placement in someone’s chart and wonder how it feels to them, that their wound feels as bad as mine does. It reminds me of a huge wave. A huge wave waiting. It waits for just the right moment and then you see, feel nothing else. Only the wound. That’s all you are. You become the wound. Nothing more. And we all have Chiron somewhere.

Is there help or hope for Chiron?

Yes. To dive in.

I don’t think we had this language before but things change. What you do with Chiron is talk about it, write about it, expose it, share it. Make it be known. Open it up. Show it off. Maybe not with everyone but, well, depending on where your Chiron is, you’ll KNOW who you need to share it with. Don’t hide anymore. Let it be seen. And then dance on its grave. Celebrate your wound. Crown it. Glory it. It’s what shouldn’t be seen so see it. SEE IT!

Making Peace With Chiron: God’s Highway

"chiron return"
When I first learned astrology, all those years ago, in that class in New York City, near Penn Station, from a real Occultist, a real Magician, I learned about Chiron. He included Chiron in the chart. Not everyone does.

Some folks do not include Chiron or do not consider him as important as the other outer planets or slow movers.

I wish I didn’t.

I wish we didn’t have a Chiron or need a Chiron.

I wish all of us were without wounds. But this is not “Moshiach time” as a lady I once worked for would probably say. In plain English, this isn’t heaven on earth. Yet.

We have our wounds and they need a representative(s). Chiron is one of these. He makes sure we are continually reminded of our vulnerability. Fragility. Humanity. It’s soooo painful, says Chiron. Can you soften when you are reminded of this instead of hardening your heart? I’ll try too.

Over the years I’ve met more than one astrologer who felt Chiron could NOT be healed, that this wound always opens and re-opens throughout our lives, depending on the transit and our life experiences. This has been my perspective too, and I always felt those “love and light” astrologers were full of shit.  You know the ones I mean? The ones who talk about how great Saturn and Pluto are as if their transits were theme park rides. Life is hard.

No one wants to be writhing in pain all the time and we’re not, for the most part, hopefully, ideally, AND YET those of us who are the explorers and seeker and deep divers, well, we live on a sharp edge. We get hurt. We trust. Many of us are empaths, artists, believers in the invisible.

Question: how to make peace with Chiron. That something will always hurt, has the potential to always hurt, and can get triggered pretty much any time. What do we do? Can we make peace? What do we do? So let’s say Chiron can’t be healed. And let’s say we are so wounded, so so so so wounded. And we try to work and love and be and live whatever life we have and… Chiron. Always Chiron.

“They say” we are supposed to take knowledge from our personal pain. That it’s a gift we can eventually give. Teach. That we can help others. I do believe this is true. Take our writhing and our sorrow and straighten up and strengthen and be a lighthouse for others, be a help, be a heart, life preserver.

Today I reached out to a friend. I was so bummed about something and she was there for me and she showed me good things when all I had to say was sorrowful things. She was a good mirror. She was good.

It was Chiron that was talking, my essential wound. My rejection. Not my filth. That’s Pluto. Not my punishment. That’s Saturn. But my Chiron. My essential wrongness. In all of us there is a place deep inside that just feels incapable of redemption, fixing, perfection, help. That’s Chiron’s curse and the irony is we really can hold others up, comfort others, even when we feel beyond that same help.

Maybe that’s the only way to make peace with Chiron. To give him voice. Speak about the wound. Speak loudly about the wound. Sing it. I’m not sure I ever do. Yes another way is to counsel others and be a good friend but I think there has to be this other way because for many of us giving counsel is not our path. But in this age of social media we can all speak out and take pain out of the dark and make it plain and SEEN. And heard.

Chiron says: I’m not good enough. I’m not X enough. The X is whatever House he’s in for you. That House becomes a black sun. X it out. Cross it out. Ignore it. Until BAM you are forced to confront your brokenness once again.

Advice: find a friend.
Advice: if you don’t have a friend find good counsel who will comfort you. Advice: if you don’t have a friend or counsel find GOD (Goddess, a candle, a Saint).

FIND IT. Because even if writhing in pain occasionally is inevitable, so is solace.

Have you made peace with Chiron?

My Black Moon Lillith In Sagittarius Story (Part One, The Skeptic)

"black moon lillith in sagittarius"
In the current class and in the chat room folks are talking about Black Moon Lillith.
She’s in Sagittarius now, having left the sign of Scorpio.

(According to my phone app she “circles around the chart every nine years” and “represents the apogee of the lunar orbit, where it lies farthest from the earth.” There is also asteroid Lillith and the “hypothetical Dark Moon” (three different things here and you can google for more info.)

Honestly I don’t think much about her transit or what effect she will have in my chart and maybe I should

BUT I’m not sure yet.

I’m torn.

I “should” also pay attention to Vesta, Ceres, Athena, and Juno by transit and I loosely have an idea of where they are in the sky without consulting my ephemeris and datebook.

So that’s my bias. One of them.

I’m a bit “eh” on this topic and I’m not sure folks have much in mind other than some vague rebellious dark feminine sexier-than-Venus image when they think of her, but I could be wrong about that. They could be Lillith scholars for all I know.

I do know in the Jewish tradition she is a demon (and we are not a demon-oriented religion. Read the “New” Testament to get your demon on.)

For me she is malefic and this could make a Saturn (also malefic) Lillith conjunction (coming to a sky near you) fairly uncomfortable and do you really want to include more demons in your chart interpretations? Maybe you do. Suit yourself. Frankly I rather track Ronald McDonald. Give me some good cheer, y’all. (Yes I know he’s a clown and that is malefic as well for many.)

You can do your own research of course (who she is, what she’s about) and I suggest you include Jewish sources which are usually left behind in the “new age” (let’s not pretend Western occult’s co-optation of Kabbalah has anything to do with Kabbalah. Side note: I got into a stupid Facebook “fight” with someone about this once who was claiming Kabbalah, which is Jewish mysticism, wasn’t Jewish at all. Sigh and face palm.)

I have here The Encyclopedia of Jewish Myth, Magic, and Mysticism (from Llewelyn) and there is a substantial entry on Lillith, with sources! (I like this book.)

Lillith is legend, story, symbol, like the other heavenly bodies we track on a daily basis. Is she a “rallying point among feminists”? Is she one of the four queens, or mothers, of demons? Both?  Are you more Doreen Virtue or Santa Muerte? Both? Yeah, me too.

Listen, I’m old school. Give me Sun through Pluto and Chiron and the Nodes and I’m happy. I like the goddess asteroids but I don’t always work with them. And maybe I’ll write a blog post tomorrow that is all rah rah rah Lillith THIS IS WHY SHE IS IMPORTANT. Astrology is so individual though. For example, I have a thing for the centaurs. They fascinate me! I’ve written um two Nessus blog posts (I think).

But the news of the day is the news of the day:
Black Moon Lillith has moved. She has moved from spooky Scorpio to storyteller Sagittarius.

What stories do you tell about your sexuality? To yourself or to others.
How has it been used or abused or righteously upheld?
Are you sexually satisfied. That’s a Lillith question.
Do you feel ignored? That’s a Lillith question.
What is a demon? What does demon mean to you? Are you one? Do you have one? Do they exist? Does Sagittarius make Lillith more talkative about her exploits and demon friends?

She will be transiting my 4th House. Do I need to welcome her? Or maybe better if I ward her off, sprinkle some salt.

Do we really need to think about Black Moon Lillith square the South Node and North Node in early Pisces and Virgo? And what does this mean for you early Gemini? Are you worried about BML opposing your Sun?

Also, it’s all very interesting once you dive into the history of why and when “beliefs” happen. Much to think about my dears.

Happy Lillithing my friends. What Lillith stories do you have to tell?

xx

VESTA in Gemini: Lips Like Fire :)

"vesta in gemini"
image from wikipedia

Vesta is FIRE. Yes many astrologers associate her with Virgo or Scorpio (she is a dedicated focused passionate worker) but to me, Vesta is fire and can represent the “hidden fire” in your chart. Meaning, you may be low in fire, planet wise (my chart sure is!) but Vesta shows where you have more of this element. Do a quick google search of Goddess Vesta and you’ll see. You’ll read things like (and I am quoting Wikipedia here):

-the sacred fire of Vesta was a sacred eternal flame in ancient Rome
-Vestal Virgins tended the holy fire, and performed other rituals connected to domestic life, including the ritual sweeping of the temple (I LOVE TO SWEEP and have Vesta on my Asc, EXACT).
-by analogy they also tended the LIFE AND SOUL OF THE CITY through the sacred fire of Vesta

FIND VESTA IN YOUR CHART AND YOU FIND YOUR SACRED FIRE (and yes this is something we can look at together).

The Vestal Virgins were not allowed to let the fire go out. Keywords: FOCUS. Commitment! Can you imagine? That job? That LIFE?

Vesta is in the sign of Gemini now. This area of your life, this HOUSE of your chart is where you are BURNING, on fire, where you are tending your sacred fire.

What does Gemini rule? So much! But here’s a wee list of some Gemini keywords, chosen at random from Rex Bills’ Rulership Book:

arms, cars, small birds, breath, books, COMMUNICATION, contracts, crystals, duality, forms, gossip, highways, letters, messengers, offices, papers, porters, relatives, restlessness, rumors, streets, telephones, thought, wireless, walking, twins, woodbine, writers…

Will Vesta in the sign of restlessness disturb your focus? Or will you focus that much more on Gemini items? Both? Maybe you’ll write TWO novels! You’ll have to let me know how this transit plays out for you.

And yes of course I must mention that ANY planet or asteroid in Gemini will square Jupiter in Virgo and square Neptune in Pisces and square Chiron in Pisces and oppose Saturn in Sagittarius (and Mars is retrograding out of Sag, back into Scorpio…)

Your Gemini House in Gemini Season and with Vesta there becomes where you should focus and where I think you WILL focus. Vesta of course becomes  anxious if her focus is not top notch so I recommend that you focus on MORE THAN ONE THING to appease Mercury AND Vesta.

I did do videos for this past week for each sign. Here is the link!

There Are Trees Growing In My Eighth House (And My Ceres Return)

"ceres return"I don’t know anything about trees. Next to nothing about trees, planting trees.

Except now I live in Florida again and it’s not uncommon to buy a small tree of your choosing and planting it in your yard. Just like that. I don’t come from a green thumb family. We were city (Jewish family, wandering, Exodus, diaspora) and we love restaurants and we get our food from the supermarket. We don’t grow it. Later in life my mother had many plants, adored her plants, but in her Miami condo there was no yard and certainly no trees of her own.

I forget how I discovered it, why I thought to plug the asteroids in because I don’t usually — that my 2016 Solar Return included my Ceres Return and now I’m obsessed. What could this possibly mean? Ceres is currently transiting the first sign, Aries. If you google this placement, you’ll read that I (we) nurture by inspiring independence in others. I think this is one reason why I like to work with Libra so much. Go ahead and Google Ceres astrology. Remind yourself of the Ceres/Persephone myth. Go to astro dot com and find out where your natal Ceres is (or you can hire me and we can discuss it!).

Here are some excerpts from a Goddess Asteroid class I did back in 2013.

*
CERES is where you lost something or someone, but then you get the opportunity to… have it again, have them again. Rebirth.

Other keywords/themes: mothering/nurturing, what makes you feel nurtured, how you nurture, what you nurture, what nurtures you.

*
Ceres is the mother. Ceres as the mother we had. Ceres as the mother we are (to ourselves or others). All nourishing earth mother.

*

Connection to eating disorders or other “food complexes” dieting, etc… Ceres restricted food when her daughter was kidnapped. From Demetra George’s Goddess Asteroid book:  “Obsessive attachment generates the LESSON of non attachment. Ceres’ unwillingness to give Persephone the freedom of self-determination, and the equally strong attachment of Persephone to her mother unconsciously attracted Persephone’s rape and abduction.”

Me: Extreme closeness plus loss… BUT then getting the beloved back but… on a cycle… If only we could all get our loved ones returned to us even for half the year (those who have passed on).

*
Possessive and loss is what my teacher said about Ceres. Goddess of Agriculture, Goddess of the Harvest. Find Ceres in your chart. YOU PROVIDE THERE. YOU PROVIDE FOR OTHERS THERE. THEY TAKE FROM YOU. YOU GIVE. YOU KEEP ON GIVING.

*
And in my 8th House we find my Ceres. From my 8th House I keep giving – RESOURCES, energy. And it is regenerative.

*
From Demetra George: “….there she was irresistably drawn to the lovely fragrant beauty of the hundred-bloomed narcissus. As Persephone plucked it and inhaled… the earth suddenly split open and formed a deep abyss from which emerged Pluto, God of the underworld…”

*
Some may say where we have Ceres is where we feel nurtured. But I think it’s also where we nurture. And where we feel deep pain. But it’s a cycle. Also…. lessons of non-attachment. How painful it is to be attached. How painful it is to lose that attachment. What to do, what to do..

*
The Ceres Return requires self-insquiry. Who am I mothering? How? Do I feel mothered? Am I being fed? Who do I feed? Am I starving? Can I be fed all year? Who are my children? Who is my mother? Who takes care of me. Who do I take care of?

My mother died before my Saturn Return. My father was already dead. I have been alone a long time and no one took over. I was not married and am not married now. I wasn’t taken under anyone’s wing although there were people in my life “like a mother to me” but it’s not the same. To lose a parent in the 20s… – you aren’t a “kid” so legally no one is responsible for you but you, but you ARE a kid. If you are older, reading this, think about that – who you were at age 26, 27. Your mother dies and no one sends you care packages anymore. I used to get a lot of care packages. That was one of the hardest things, I remember. No more mail.

I also noticed (how could I miss it?) that Saturn is square my Moon in this Solar Return and Saturn is transiting my 4th House while in Sagittarius and… it has come to my attention that, well, I am wondering what now. 20 years after the fact, what do I need to know about this loss and my place in the world. A long time without a mother. What am I supposed to do NOW. And what do I want to do. And what has happened over all these years. Will she come back? She can’t come back, not in body. But as witches, we know quite well there are other “options” and we are not limited by the physical.

To be continued (?)…

Venus in Scorpio trine Nessus – Part Two

"venus trine nessus" Look here for Part One

Today Venus is trine Nessus in the sky.

If you read Part One you’ll see an old blog post of mine about Nessus to give some clues about this intense energy but Venus in Scorpio is intense too.

What do we have when we mix these together IN TRINE, at ease?
They mix well in trine. The lumps and clumps dissolve and the new liquid goes down smooth possibly giving you superpower.

You can slip through the cracks to this power. **YOUR** power. Not theirs. Find your footing but yes Venus Nessus has subterranean decor, furnishings by Devil and Death & Co. Elixir du Pluto, the dark boat.

As usual you’ll want to find the houses in your chart that apply, Scorpio and Pisces. What’s the connect? Something this way that way flows, something you probably would be terrified of on any given day but not this day when the connect is a slipstream trine.

In plain English, sort of:

today the horse is tame, the beast is tame (which is your shadow, you have access to it TODAY, an open door). All magic at your disposal. No matter how wild. You can stick your hand within its jaws and not get bit. Why do this? To extract. Knowledge. Remember in the previous blog post I was talking about WORDS.

If you don’t figure out one significant piece of the puzzle today, your puzzle of right now, then you aren’t paying attention.

Venus in Scorpio trine Nessus (in Pisces) – Part One

"venus trine nessus" I’ve written about Nessus before. From an earlier blog post:

How to approach the NEW heavenly bodies for greater understanding? GOOGLE.

Google is simply the best resource for all of us. Research and then research some more. You can read different versions of a myth and what various astrologers have to say.

What’s on my mind is NESSUS so here I am adding to the body of centaur literature, my take on what this myth could mean for you — this relatively new addition to our natal charts (Nessus was discovered in 1993).

What struck me the most about the Nessus myth is the RAPE. Attempted rape.

Now, some versions of the story don’t use the word rape.

Some say “had sex with.”

Wikipedia says he tried to “steal away” Deianira (Heracles’ wife).

Does it matter if the attack was halted? Surely from HER point of view it does! But let’s leave that point alone for now. (And I speak as someone who was able to stop an attack — as a child.)

Nessus was ferrying her across the water and once they reached the other side (according to Zane Stein’s website) he did indeed try to rape her.

And the story continues: Nessus is shot then with Heracles’ poison arrow. And Nessus, pissed and vengeful and most likely in great pain, tells her that his blood-soaked cloak will act as a kind of magic love potion, bringing Heracles back to her if he is ever unfaithful.

Of course it’s a lie. But she remembers this lie and follows Nessus’ instructions (years later) and what happens is…

Well, you’ll just have to do your own research to get the end of the story ;) I’m wicked like that. I want you to dig these things out.

So what do we have so far?

An offer (to ferry the woman in the first place). A trust. She trusts him. A temptation (Nessus is a beast, can’t control himself). A terror (the woman raped/almost raped). Protection. Safety. Heracles saves her. And Nessus’ revenge. Verbal instruction is his revenge. He TELLS HER what to do. We can’t believe everything we hear.

Nessus was shot for his crime. Justice was done. The bad guy gets his. But then so does the good guy. We have a story of trust, betrayal, violence, sexual violence, revenge, death… and this additional point about the WORDS. We can’t trust them.

So what the hell do we do with this?

Well, I think where your natal Nessus is… shows the likelihood for some dirty dealings in your life. Difficulties. Deception. Trauma. People you cannot trust. But you also get SAVED. It works both ways. Some centaur (half man, half animal) attacks you but your husband saves you. Or someone saves you. Maybe YOU save you. And the aspects to it will tell us more. The who, what, where. And I think those dirty dealings (those dirty dealing people) come out of that HOUSE in your life, like snakes from Medusa’s head. They originate there, emerge from there. Poison flowers thrust through the door.

Honestly I don’t know how to make a “good guy” out of a “bad guy” — how to redeem Nessus. Because, to me, someone who attacks is simply not going to be sympathetic. So we have to… decide who WE ARE in this myth. Are we the bad guy? Are we the victim? Are we both? It’s a complex story. Maybe we are Heracles in this story, the savior who gets burned in the end. Even though this heavenly body was named Nessus, we must confront the whole story’s web.

Where you have Nessus is where you were raped. And yes I know that’s a trigger word and trigger issue and I am using it as a metaphor here (or not, depending on your story). Where you have Nessus is where something was TAKEN from you, against your will (or the attempt was made). And lies were told. Lies. Maybe you survived. You got free. But then came the lies.

And the question becomes: CAN YOU GET IT BACK? Get back what was stolen. And how?

**
Transiting Uranus is currently sextile my natal Nessus. It’s not exact yet. I was searching my chart for SOMETHING (read the original post here) to shed some… light or ease on Uranus squaring my Sun. Another place to focus. What we focus on expands. This transit is really just beginning now and Uranus won’t trine my Venus for a few years and I was looking at this barren chaotic field and that’s when I found it. Transiting Uranus sextile Nessus the centaur.

But isn’t that BAD? Isn’t Nessus… bad? Well, sextiles are GOOD. They take a little elbow grease, a little effort, but then doors open. It’s not open sesame type magic like a trine, but positive yes. And one of my concerns is money and debt and the IRS and I saw the sextile from my 8th to my 10th and I knew: STAY THERE, FOCUS THERE. DON’T LET UP. Use the ugly to manifest the beautiful. Use the attack (the energy of the attack) to manifest healing.

I assume Nessus in his attack did not let up. I assume this. I assume that Heracles, attempting to stop Nessus did not let up, and thus killed him. And I can only, also, assume that Deianira did not let up — fending off her attacker, and, years later, trying to save her marriage.

Out of the darkness then. Out of the darkness then comes much light.

*
I’m not even sure when I wrote that blog post. A couple years ago.  I had a website makeover last year and the old posts… I can’t quite find the date some old posts were written but IRONIC to me that I having Uranus square Sun AND Uranus sextile Nessus AGAIN (need to check the degree of my natal Nessus).

Venus in Scorpio is trine transiting Nessus in Pisces. What could this possibly mean? I’ll address this in the next blog post.

vestaVesta is now in Aquarius and when I think of Vesta I remember Vesta keywords:

dedication, commitment, concentration, passion, sacrifice. Keeper of Sacred Flame. GUARDIAN.

Of course it makes sense that Vesta in Aquarius will follow her own quirky path. Individual.

Don’t try to predict what move she will make next, what territory or Akashic Record she will peer into. She is dedicated to all things electric and she is REALLY GOOD at explaining things. Aquarius is the zodiac’s Idealist. (You thought it was Pisces, right?)

Did you know that Aquarius rules Frankincense — which has many magickal uses including the summoning of spirits AND strengthens concentration! Hello Vesta!

Vesta in Aquarius: I picture a scientist with a torch.
Vesta, Goddess of Home and Hearth, keeping the fire burning.
Vesta remains in Aquarius through all of February and most of March.

I did a Goddess class a couple years ago. I am cutting and pasting here some thoughts from there:

Vesta is where we need to be free, “whole unto ourselves.”
Where Vesta is in our charts is where we will not rest because we cannot let the fire go out.
Obsession built on commitment and duty. And a sense of having inherited it. You have no choice. You have to deal with it and yet you can find the sweet spot.

Intuitive Leap no. 1:

If your chart is short on fire (by sign or house even), then consider Vesta’s placement as a dose of fire and passion. I’m remembering also in the Venus Mars class, I learned (from my own studies) that Mars has to do with SEPARATION (versus Venus who is social) and Vesta has that feeling about her as well.

Intuitive Leap no. 2:

Where we have Vesta in our natal charts is where we must KEEP IT BURNING, home fire or something else. What could this “something else” be?

And where we have her by transit is where we also must keep something ALIVE at this time.

Do we ever think of the Moon or Venus as guardian energy? I suppose we could, right? Moon as mother. Venus as protecting a relationship perhaps but Vesta feels different to me. Guardian. She’s not protecting a baby or a grown man or woman but… something bigger. An idea. She gives women (and men) more options.

My Vesta is conjunct my Virgo Ascendent. EXACT. Conjunct my South Node too. No doubt I’ve had some cloistered past lives. What about you?

Eris, Goddess of Discord

A lovely lady in one of the chatrooms started a thread about Eris and I am passionate about the “new” astrology because… this stuff isn’t written in stone yet. There’s no canon. There’s no authority. Not yet. Not enough data.

Dwarf planet Eris was discovered *only* in 2005 and YES there is much to read on-line about her and yet… YOU DECIDE.

Read the myth. Read what’s out there. Use your critical mind. Use your creative mind. Plot her in your natal chart. What does she aspect? What do you notice?

I’m not going to spoon feed you this stuff. Do your own research on the Goddess of Discord! My main point is this: don’t be a sheep. Don’t accept what’s accepted. Read, explore, be critical.

I tend to worry that she’ll “just” be considered a Pluto-lite type energy or a more stabby Lillith and that would do her a disservice! She has her own story. She needs her own keywords. And that’s where YOU come in, oh my little astro-pioneers! Exciting, isn’t it? I think so.

So. Goddess of Discord. And THEN WHAT? What is past discord? To me she is the discord and fury of someone who has been bullied. Left out, right? Homicidal discord.

And I will answer my own question now and give you my own interpretation copyright MoonPluto :)

What is past fury, MoonPluto? REGRET is past fury (in a sane person). In an INsane person, it’s just more of the same: more fury. Or apathy. Sadism.

So, for me, Eris is where you will feel/discover your emotional LIMIT and thus where you will EXPAND without breaking, making room for MORE of who you are. Or you will snap.

These thoughts are my own, but don’t trust my version of things. Make your own discoveries :)

According to the Time Passages app on my phone (I love this thing!) Eris is at 21 degrees Aries (retrograde) and oh yes she is looking at you, Mr. and Mrs. Mars in Libra ;)

Chiron Goes Direct November 19th (2013)

In one of the chat rooms we were talking about healing from past pain versus letting go of the idea of having to heal, needing to heal.

That maybe this… compulsion to solve it all, fix it all, causes even more problems sometimes.

Behavior though (thinking of my own) can sometimes be… lacking in skill or even self-destructive (and hurtful to others) and thus… we simply CANNOT remain the same… if we want to keep what we love.

And we do want to keep what we love, right? Ask yourself this question. What’s the answer? Have a conference with your Higher Self :)

One way to look at it: the sooner you accept that it CANNOT be fully healed, that it won’t be resolved, the better off you will be. Scars are beautiful. That this is it. The BEST you are. And good enough. Functional enough. Broken enough. Happy enough. Unhappy enough. You are love.

I was born on a Chiron station. Chiron stationing to go retrograde, to go back, turning back, looking behind. What I believe today: the universe does not care what I want. Instead, I have a purpose and the less I fight it, the more normal-type perks I will receive,  like love, like safety. That’s my vision of my life. What’s yours?

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.  Seigneur, faites de moi un instrument de votre paix.”

If you too have a prominent Chiron in your chart, please know that you are part human and part sacrifice. You probably feel this too. Maybe didn’t know what it was.  You don’t belong to this world and yet you must be here now :) You must learn everything you can and help as you are able. Even one word can change someone’s life.

Chiron goes direct in late November at 9 degrees Pisces, making harmonious aspects to Mercury, the North Node, and Pluto. Many of my generation are under a nasty Pluto Chiron square at this time (Pluto in Capricorn square Chiron in Aries) so consider this the balm in Gilead.

Decided to draw a card for this weekend since I’ve got my deck out: Knight of Pentacles. No matter how long it takes, no matter how long it takes, no matter how long it takes. The cavalry is coming.

Astrology & Tarot Readings

My New YouTube Channel

Do You Know Where Your Juno Is?

So we are in the middle of the Asteroid Goddess class and I posted this morning on Facebook:

We “reclaim” Juno or the Juno myth by NOT betraying her. Unlike Jupiter/Zeus. By living… SELF-WORTH rather than self destruction in the area of our life/chart where we find her. Juno wants revenge because she’s been betrayed so DO NOT BETRAY HER i.e. DO NOT BETRAY YOURSELF.

And if you are reading this, take responsibility. Make choices. Your choices make your life.

Where we have Juno is where we may feel BETRAYED and want to seek REVENGE or take REVENGE. Juno was the faithful wife.

HOW CAN WE RECLAIM OUR LOYALTY AND FIDELITY. To what or whom are you loyal?

On a related note, I am feeling very Pluto lately. What I mean is that I am talking about uncomfortable stuff these days, in my classes, in charts, in my personal life. It’s not easy, not fun. It’s smelly. It’s ripe with… truth. At least that’s how I would describe it. Saturn in Scorpio truth. And transiting Venus is conjunct my Pluto this week. Double triple ripe truth! But without it, what do we have?

And I was connecting my Pluto life these days with Juno (Juno being associated with Scorpio). And where we find Pluto we find crisis, coercion and I am going to use rape as a metaphor now and I’m sorry if it is offensive. Rape is such a horrible thing (I consider it torture) that I don’t believe it has a PLACE in language as a metaphor and yet… that’s how Pluto I feel today. My childhood was traumatic. I feel I have a right to these metaphors.

Life is about making choices. Being free and able to make choices. Not being coerced, consciously (when we go along with it, for whatever reason) or by default. Is it time for you to CHOOSE rather than just swim with the tide? When I just swim with the tide, my body falls apart. It REBELS. I start to suffer even if I can’t identify why. I just get symptoms.

If we don’t choose, then we are being raped. Don’t rape yourself, ladies and gentlemen. Make choices. Really examine your life. “Do I want such and such”?

I am living and breathing Pluto right now :)

Another connection: a gal in the Asteroid Class has her Juno in Sagittarius and I am telling her how she must NOT betray herself and she does this by honoring her FREEDOM.

Goddess Trine Goddess (Eris And Black Moon Lillith)

I am not covering Eris in my current class but someone asked about her so I started to think about her.

I have Eris conjunct Chiron in my 8th House (ouch) opposing unstable boundary smasher Uranus. Break on through to the other side.

What is the 8th House? Sexuality. Secrets. Getting close and the fear of it. Other people’s resources. What other people take from us.

We also find the 8th House associated with abuse, trauma, violence, the occult, taboo, manipulation, crisis, psychotherapy, healing, death.

No bowl of Cherrios here :) Spikes and daggers instead for breakfast.

Chiron and Eris square my Sun (men). We all have Eris, the Goddess of Discord, SOMEWHERE in our charts. She’s a troublemaker so what’s the up side? Truth. Less apologizing for who you are. Not fitting in. Breaking the rules and not caring.

And if you’ll permit me to widen my orbs, which I often do in various contexts because I FEEL energy and I think it’s actually more accurate for chart reading and interpretation and REAL LIFE, my Chiron-Eris is TRINE my Venus Black Moon Lillith conjunction in my 12th House.

Goddess trine Goddess: hidden sexuality, hidden sexual power, sex that heals, sex that helps, sex that rewires past trauma. The little death leading to a better life. Venus and Lillith: my inner goddess needing no one? Or intimacy with the Divine? And yet the 8th House is a human house. This goddess needs a home.

Chaos was thrusted upon you. You were entrusted with chaos and you made chaos until you learned better. Let the healing begin.

No answers today, just pondering :)

What’s in your 8th House?

Why You Too Should Be Obsessed With Vesta!

Sex.

When you think about sex you probably think about Mars or Venus or Pluto, but not about Vesta, right?

Thing is this, my friends, Vesta has plenty to do with sex and YOUR SEX LIFE. PLENTY.

Vesta, believe it or not, is where you are DIFFERENT (or not). Vesta is where you stray from convention. Where you practice self-denial or where you go to extremes. Yes, sexually. And I mean this in terms of a “strong” Vesta — heavily aspected for example or with “difficult” aspects.

She has many other associations too, including that of FIRE and today in the Goddess Asteroid class (and on Facebook) I made a connection between how helpful it can be to know where your Vesta is. That Vesta is the “missing” fire in your chart. Low on fire signs or fire houses? Find Vesta. Keeper of the sacred eternal flame. (And if you want to know more details of the mythology, please Google for more.)

The Vestal Virgins led lives of service. They were not permitted to let the fire go out thus we find these keywords: COMMITMENT, DEDICATION, FOCUS.

And then there is the matter of sex. The Vestal Virgins were “chaste,” belonging to no man (through marriage) thus a strong Vesta can mean that the way you want to do sex and relationships is, well, not so traditional. Or not so committed (partnership-wise) and that you have a different focus.

Challenges come when the strong Vesta person actually WANTS an intimate committed relationship and their mind is always on… spiritual service (or one night stands)… instead of figuring out how to relate to someone long term and with feeling!

Do you know where you Vesta is?

Weekend TAROT Forecast And Why You Need The Goddess

Why am I doing a short course on the Goddess Asteroids?

Because I got obsessed while I was giving over my thoughts on VENUS in the Mars and Venus class and it felt complimentary to me – MORE female power to talk about.

Especially helpful if your Venus is stressed because hey you may have a vivacious Vesta ;) or  an ab fab Athena! Don’t let  bothersome ideas of Venus and how women are “supposed to be” limit your expression in the world.

And the last time I talked about the Goddess Asteroids was last year I think, in the first astro class I did. The grief and possessiveness of Ceres. The dedication and concentration of Vesta. The wisdom and courage of Pallas Athena. And Juno. I am remembering now that the Juno story (the faithful wife) was the most mysterious to me… I look forward to revisiting these ladies.

THIS WEEKEND:

Saturday: Moon in vulnerable Cancer making all kinds of aspects. Is there someone you want to open up to? Moon will conjoin Jupiter and oppose Pluto (among other goodies). Big emotions and possible dramarama BUT… I say go for it. Heart on sleeve and all. Tarot says? THREE OF WANDS. Put it out there. See what comes back to you.

Sunday: SUN (in Leo) TRINE URANUS and Moon conjunct Mercury. TAKE A CHANCE. You are a brilliant idea. And ooooh enigmatic energy here EIGHT OF CUPS. Yes, THE DECISION IS FINAL. Take a bow. What comes to an end for you, shortly before the New Moon?

Got questions about this, the class, or the NEW MOON IN LEO? Look here! And here for info about Readings.

Thursday Will Be Chiron’s Day (August 1st)

Trying to squeeze out a blog post in the middle of everything — a bunch of workmen are here, disrupting my home (Cancer) and my routine (Virgo). In short, they are disrupting ME. With a few spare minutes, let’s see what’s up in the sky:

Mars square Uranus is definitely tense, jittery, jangly. Moon in Gemini is scattered. Well, the weather is fitting me already. What about you? Are you having a calm day? A distracted day? Snipey?

Disruptions at home making me nervous = definitely Mars square Uranus.

Thursday is interesting with two Chiron aspects happening. Mars makes a trine and Venus opposes. I’ve been holding court on Chiron on my Facebook page lately so let me post what I put there last night in case you aren’t my FB friend (and you should be, by the way!)

“… this reminds me also of Moon Chiron contacts. I’ve got clients (I’ve seen this run in families) with Moon Chiron conjunctions and yes the mother situation is pretty intense – not so much in a Pluto way. Or a Saturn way but… something you can’t ever get past. The wound that keeps on wounding. Sasportas believes we CAN heal Saturn squares for example. And Pluto issues can often be helped by backing out of the drama. Taking ourselves OUT of the triangle (there is often a triangle with Pluto) But Chiron? We walk around open wounded. There is no power in Chiron. Saturn is our work. Pluto is our power. Chiron is… what you never get over. Can’t turn it around. Can’t take back the night on Chiron.

So what can you do? What is the ONLY thing you can do with Chiron energies? Help others (in that Virgo type way) because you’ve been there. Not because it will heal you. It won’t. But because you have something to share. Chiron is where you have sacrificed and where you will sacrifice over and over and over in this lifetime…”

Mars trine Chiron could rev you up (exercise? new diet?) and the Venus opposition may be a new healer in your life, therapist, doctor, friend.

What are your thoughts on Chiron?

Love, MP

We are talking about Chiron on the message board so I did a Google search and found myself :) this is from the Archives

Sometimes you have to wait a really long time for what you want, and I don’t know why this is. It’s a mystery larger than I can understand. There’s that word again: the ineffable.

When I think about mystery and longing for something, desire, I remember this song (click here) from Peter Greenaway’s movie, Drowning By Numbers.

It brings me back to my college days and the small art-house theatre, where I saw the movie, and the mad crush I had on the film theory graduate student. He had short dark hair and little glasses. I was an undergraduate and also into film theory, but poetry too.

I don’t know why I chose him or where I met him. He was easily ten years older.  I’ll never forget our first kiss, what a gentleman he was, how he stirred me with his mouth and how respectful, touching nothing. Getting close but not getting there.

What did I know of love? What did I know of men?

All I had to offer was my sex, my 8th House, my silence. I mean, I didn’t know how to talk (Mercury in Cancer) and the 8th House is Scorpio is quiet intensity brooding sexual. I was all locked up. Sex was my communication, my struggle to speak, to be intimate. But… it doesn’t work that way for men. I mean, I gave it away. I only wanted to be close. It never worked.

As I was waiting for a train today and finishing this post I also began to think aboutVenus in the 12th House (a jailer just like Chiron) and how after half a lifetime ofVenus 12th House issues, the Get Out Of Jail Free Card from Monopoly should just… appear in your hand, as you step out into the new day.

Healing Fire: Chiron In Aries

Adventures in acupuncture. A no-brainer perhaps. That someone (me!) with Chiron in Aries would be drawn to acupuncture. Why? Mars rules needles and asteroid Chiron has to do with healing (self and others).

The first time I had acupuncture, years ago, I swore never again. It was frightening, painful. What I thought was the sensation of chi moving through my body was unbearable. I know now that wasn’t chi. It was someone who didn’t know their shit.

Flash forward: for a recent (since the spring) nagging health problem I decide to try it, based on the recommendation of a friend who has been going to Mr. Lee for years and who Mr. Lee has cured. I trust the triple Pisces. And he’s Aries and I don’t know where his Chiron is but a warrior (Aries) is what’s needed to deal with my needle-fear and worry. Break on through to the other side, Mr. Lee!

First session: it went fine despite my near panic attack and wanting to leap off the table. Once it was over, I felt like a brave soldier. And afterwards I had 6 hours of BLISS. I came home and alerted my roommate:  I just had acupuncture. Leave me alone. Can’t talk :)

Second session: more difficult. More needles.  And the ENTIRE time I had to pee REALLY BAD. And afterwards, some relaxation but no bliss, not like the last time. And I felt sad but in Cancer-land (I have Sun, Mercury, and Mars in Cancer) crying is *not a bad thing*

I decided not to judge this experience. That I had had TWO different experiences. Big fucking deal. Wanting to hold on to any emotion is sweet but foolish. Doesn’t work like that. So I sat with it. There it was.

In the days following I did not feel sad but as a Cancer a mood a minute is a given so that’s not really the point here. The point is that it has been helping me already. Helping me so much that the MD (who I also saw that week) who prescribed me a medication, well, I may not take it.

I may have neglected to mention that my Chiron in Aries resides in my 8th House. Whatever is uncovered, whatever wants to be freed, whatever  is set in motion due to the healing fire of the needle is deep stuff, old stuff, old as… acupuncture?

Chiron in Aries chases healing. Hunts it down. Is it that way for you too?

How do you get well?

Chiron Dogs

"chiron in the 7th house"This post is from the Archives…

Today I was talking to someone who adopts “rescue-dogs” and she was mentioning how they still get triggered (responding to perceived danger/threat) even years later.

Certain physical gestures (probably tones of voice too) can bring them back, psychologically, to the hard times.

They’re wounded and I thought to myself “Chiron dogs.” We’re all Chiron dogs. We’ve all got Chiron somewhere. We all get triggered.

I was writing about this the other day: that if Chiron in the chart shows where you canNOT be completely healed, then what?

I forget who I was reading. Howard Sasportas I think — that you CAN heal the Saturn pains in your chart. But with Chiron? The gift that keeps on giving ;)

What is the solution? Love? Is that always the solution? Patience? Ask yourself: what does my such and such (insert personal chart details here) Chiron need to feel safe? How do you stop the triggers from… not triggering you, but… stop them from doing damage to your heart and self-esteem.

That person you think is hurting you may not really be intentionally hurting you but somehow, someway, reminding you of an old pain. When you feel hurt, leap to unpack it, rather than leap to return the hurt. Now THAT is one way to work with Chiron. Not easy to leap out of Chiron-mind but worthwhile.

***

Someone hurt my feelings today but I can choose. I can choose whether to have this person in my life and if so what role they will play. I can choose whether their traits are too… whatever... for me. You do make choices, don’t you? About what you allow in your life?

I get hurt in intimate situations. I just do. Chiron in the 8th House. Get close to me and you will not be rewarded with a cookie. You’ll get other stuff but not so many cookies.

(Edited to add: it does get better. It’s a skill, a muscle.)

***

Transiting Chiron is in Pisces. Transiting Neptune is in Pisces. These fellows are in the early degrees of Pisces. Where they are traveling in your chart will be where you feel, at times, vulnerable and, at times, confused. Mystical. Mystified. And ouch ouch ouch it hurts. Touch at your own risk. You may get bit.

***

What does a dog need? Structure, right? Saturn. Exercise. Mars. And love from others and I want to call this love from others, the ability to reliably love, as a Sun issue, not a Venus issue (Venus is usually identified as the “love planet.”)

So try this at home, folks, with your Chiron. Give him something to do. Give him a routine. Food, shelter, hugs. Definitely hug your Chiron dogs. Yeah, you could have more than one, a whole litter maybe…

Revisit your natal Chiron to find out what you should be doing.

Chiron: The Hurt That Keeps On Hurting. Or, Enter The Angels

"chiron in the 8th house"I woke up this morning feeling serious. Typical morning ;) but underneath that layer, I smile.

What are your layers? What’s your topmost layer? And yes you can think of it as layer cake or the earth’s layers or maybe you are a shell, a spiral. Maybe a grid :) The one thing I know for sure is that you’re an intricate and interesting being. There are memories and desires and mistakes.

And I’m wondering where Chiron fits in to your story. How much an influence you think he has on you. We are feeling an increased Chiron affect these days because he only recently went direct and is enjoying (ha!) support from transiting planets in Scorpio and Capricorn.

This is my Chiron “advice” for Saturday :) wherever you have Chiron in your natal chart (and according to your transits), you need to live in that house, unpleasant as it is when you spend too much time there, uncomfortable as it is. Do it anyway. It’s like a treasure hunt where you have to offer up all the riches you find but those riches are badly needed. And since you can’t avoid Chiron and Chiron lessons, don’t even try to avoid them. Take breaks, yes, but then come right back, with your shaky tenderness (as Pema Chodron would say).

Wherever you have Chiron is where you will not only feel rejected but risk rejection, and most likely get rejected. And yet you can help others. That’s the Chiron legacy and irony. That we suffer and alleviate others’ suffering and can’t cure our own, but imagine if we ALL did this… It’s making me think of guardian angels, of the folks who believe we have angels and guides looking out for us. And that you, that all of us, have a Chiron. Not just that vulnerable spot in our chart but someone out there in this vast world, physical or metaphysical, who can save us.

Good Morning from the Big City :)

News From MoonPluto Land (The Goddesses)

"new moon in virgo"I got inspired yet again from someone in the class.

She was talking about her Ceres Jupiter Juno conjunction (all retrograde) in her 3rd House in Pisces. And that’s nice isn’t it? The “happy couple” conjunct? ;)

I started riffing on how there must be something special or interesting about the way she learns (3rd House) and pondering what conjunctions of different asteroids could mean.

And then I realized (my aha moment!) that the Goddesses, that Juno, Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas are simply different facets of the feminine soul (whether we are male or female). Same for the Moon and Venus.

Moon showing what we need to feel secure, and Venus showing what excites us, and Juno showing our fidelity and truth, and Pallas showing our wise mind, and Vesta showing our devotion and personal ritual, and Ceres showing our wandering, our travel, in search of self (in the body of the daughter, Persephone).

So the question (which I posed earlier) isn’t WHICH Goddess are you because you are all of them.

Love, MP

In Search Of Juno (Part 2)

"demetra george"I just posted this now in MoonPluto Land.

Where Juno is in your chart, is where you will desire to be LOYAL and FAITHFUL.

Whether you are remains to be seen, but the desire/goal is there! It’s what you WANT.

Jupiter (Zeus) and Juno had a stormy marriage to say the least. So this adds to the interpretation. You may feel like a prisoner where you have Juno. That you are faithful by default. Your desire for union is strong but will you get there?

I’m not sure if we can resolve or redeem our Junos in our charts. I think it depends on the aspects, how much strife or how easy it will be.

Do you identify with Juno?

Love, MP

In Search Of Juno

"juno in taurus"I’m not getting a strong sense of Juno yet, what she’s about.

I admit I need to finish reading Demetra George’s chapters on the Goddess, but when I first read about Ceres, I got it. And when I read about Pallas and Vesta, I got it.

Juno, for some reason, is mysterious to me. Somehow I feel kept out of her story. The other Goddesses WERE their stories. Juno’s story is about someone else. Her husband.

Despite my romantic, sacrificial, idealizing Venus in the 12th House and Neptune ruling my 7th House, I can’t imagine finding fulfillment and being-hood through my relationship only. Despite my desire for marriage and monogamous sexual union. It’s part but not the whole.

And I’m not judging Goddess Juno for her fidelity and loyalty. Nor am I praising it ;) To each their own. Who am I to judge?

You know what it is? I’m not feeling Juno’s power here. The other Goddesses feel, to me, like real women, flesh and blood. Interesting juicy myths, ripe and colorful. Juno feels invented.

And yet. And yet there must be more. Clearly I have more reading to do :)

Juno The Faithful Wife

"juno in sagittarius"We’ve just begun talking about Juno (Hera) in the virtual classroom. Juno the faithful wife vs. her husband, Zeus/Jupiter, the philanderer.

One young woman was talking about her Juno in Sagittarius, the desire for freedom in partnership.

What did Juno desire? According to Demetra George, Juno desired mystical union in the marriage bed. But I’ve only just begun reviewing the Juno chapter. There is more to discover.

And I think on what we’ve learned so far, about fierce brainy Pallas, sublimating Vesta, grieving Ceres.

Pallas couldn’t “have it all” or didn’t want it all. Career Woman of the Ancient World. I think it is wrong for us to assume that Goddess Pallas wanted anything more than what she had.

And Vesta? The vestal virgins would have been killed if they had been caught breaking their vows. Duty and devotion. Commitment to the flame. And yet I wonder about secret love affairs that MUST have gone on.

And Ceres? So fused with her daughter Persephone that they are one being. Maybe she was jealous of her daughter. Maybe SHE wanted to be ravished by Pluto.

And now Juno. She got a man but he ain’t true. What to do, what to do, Juno.

Four stories of goddesses, of women. Myths. Are we all of them? None of them? Some of them?

Which goddess are you?
